Sgt. Bobbi Jo Edwards will discuss, "Family Law Conflict - A Cop's Perspective."

Court orders are entered every day delineating the rights of litigants and their families, alike. Such orders range from determining occupancy rights, property rights, and restrictions on movement and contact with others. Not every order is perfect, and ambiguities can abound.

How do those on the front lines, often non-lawyer law enforcement officers, deal with such orders? Who gives them direction? What legal authorities inform that direction? How closely do they work with their department’s legal counsel? To what extent are they actually required to enforce civil family law orders? Are they required to speak with a litigant’s attorney?
